During this sub-series, we will lean into Biblical principles for navigating battles. BUT when you follow Jesus, THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD!


Exodus 14:13–14 (ESV) And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”


CONTEXT:

  • God had promised the Israelites Canaan

  • Canaan experienced draught that was impacting Jacob

  • Joseph rose to power with a plan to beat the draught

  • Jacob/Joseph were reunited and everyone moved to Egypt to survive.

  • This was a wonderful but temporary step in the journey.

  • 140 years passed, and generations were born.

  • The Egyptians became oppressors and the Israelites became slaves.


Egypt represents an inbetween place you have turned into a destination.

  • Place in a relationship, career, ministry

  • Instead of making it through the famine, you put down roots and decided to live.

  • It’s a “sufficient” that will keep you from “best.”

  • It’s someone else's land, but it’s not yours.

  • It is less than.


Principles For Victory


Hear & Declare The Word Of The Lord - Exodus 14:1 (ESV) Then the Lord said to Moses,

Every battle is different, hear from God

You want to bless God’s plans, not ask Him to bless yours.

  • Godly Counsel


You will hear the voice of FEAR. 

But once you have the voice of God…

  • 1 Corinthians 2:16 (ESV) “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

  • 2 Corinthians 10:5–6 (ESV) We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,  being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.


Then Moses Declared - Exodus 14:13-14 (ESV) And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

It’s critical to declare what God has said to you!

  • It confirms your alignment 

  • It informs others

  • It informs your circumstances

  • It informs the enemy

  • It invites God’s resources


Take Authority In The Spirit - Exodus 14:15-16 The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.

  • Exodus 14:21 - Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.


Authoritative declarations and actions are powerful. They are the demonstration of the authority given to you.

Luke 10:17-19 The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.


Take Action In The Flesh - Exodus 14:22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

Exodus 14:29 But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

Action Gives God Something To Work With!


Celebrate What He Has Done - Exodus 15:1 Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying, “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

This is more than a verse.

This was a song written for people to hear and sing corporately

This etched a story that glorifies god, current and future.
